If you follow the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) industry at all, you know by now that back at the end of May Google released their latest algorithm update which was called Penguin 2.0. Penguin 2.0 was basically developed to help combat black hat techniques and link spam, which was its main goal. Since the release of Penguin 2.0 several webmasters have seen their rankings tank and are left wondering what to do in order to get their sites ranking again and back to making more money.

Believe it or not, once you put all the pieces together and read all the news surrounding the updates, you really don’t have to do NOTHING, just get back to basics, which means do SEO the way you should have been doing it for years now.

Basic On-Site Optimization Still Works Wonders

With all the competition coming into the world of Search Engine Optimization, many people forget and bypass this crucial step. All websites no matter what industry or topic you are targeting should have the basic on-site optimization techniques performed. By basic optimization techniques we mean the following:

  • Meta Titles & Descriptions
  • Content Optimization
  • Optimize Content for Readability (NOT search engines)
  • Internal Link Structures
  • Navigations
  • Basic 301 Redirects
  • Fixing 404 Pages
  • Speed and Error Optimization
  • Site Design & Integration

These are some of the basic things that all webmasters should keep in mind when creating a website for their audience or customers. In reality it is just basic common sense types of things that have always been proving to work.

Basic Off-Site (Link Building) and Creating Content Others Want to Share

This again is something that Google has been pushing for ever since they started producing algorithms to produce search engine results. That is create content that others are going to what to link to and share, this is the basis of what “Backlinks” were created to be. With the evolution of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, these have become major signals that Search Engines base rankings on, because these sites are major content sharing sites.

When you are creating content that you want to go viral and generate backlinks just follow some of the following tips and you will have no problems generating those backlinks:

  • High Quality Content
  • Use 100% Unique Content
  • Use Statistically Information
  • Reference your Sources
  • Create Infographics

Again, these are just basic tips that have always been the main point of what search engines were looking for. It seems as though as technology and the internet evolved webmasters tried to come up with techniques and strategies to manipulate the results. In reality if webmasters would have just stuck to the basic strategies and needs of their visitors, they would have never had any issues when it comes to search engine rankings.
